Beis has become the “it” luggage brand, and I’m not ashamed to admit that I, too, jumped on the bandwagon. Between the clean aesthetics and celebrity-backed name, Beis bags continue to pop up in every airport and on countless travel influencers’ social media feeds.

As an avid weekend road tripper and short-term traveler, my first Beis purchase was the coveted “The Weekender” bag. I bought it about two years ago, and I still use it nearly every other weekend. Considering how well it has held up thus far, it’s likely going to be my weekend travel bag for many more years to come.

What is Beis Travel?

Beis was founded by actress Shay Mitchell, who is famous for her roles in Pretty Little Liars, You, and more. When she’s not acting in a murder drama, she apparently loves to travel, which is what inspired her to start a luggage brand of her own.

In addition to the weekender bag, she sells backpacks, suitcases, everyday totes, duffle bags, baby bags, and even bags and travel accessories for your pet.

While the trendy brand is a bit pricey ($98 for The Weekender), it offers free shipping on United States orders over $150 — and trust me, once you start browsing the site, you’ll have that minimum in your cart in no time. Standard shipping takes three to five business days, but you can also opt for two-day or overnight shipping for an additional cost.

How I use the Beis Weekender

As the name suggests, this bag is designed to “take the hassle out of packing for the weekend,” according to the website. Thanks to its thoughtfully constructed compartments — such as a bottom section for shoes and an inner pocket for your laptop — and the secure zipper closures, I can confirm that it does just that.

Being in a semi-long distance relationship, I pack my weekender bag about twice a month for the two-hour road trip to see my partner. It easily holds all my essentials for two to three nights; if I need a little extra room, I’ll also bring my Beis backpack along for the ride.

This bag is great for extra carry-on luggage as well. It features an exterior zipper pocket that converts into a trolly sleeve that fits easily over your suitcase’s handle. So, you don’t have to worry about lugging it through the airport over your shoulder — just be careful not to overpack so it fits under the seat! I love the minimalist and clean beige aesthetic, but the weekender comes in five different colors to suit a variety of styles.

Beis Weekender review

As I said, I tend to overpack, even for overnight and weekend trips. I’ll be honest, I have stuffed this bag to the brim more than once but it continues to hold up free of rips or damage. My favorite part about the weekender is its various compartments that are designed for specific uses. It has a spacious center pocket that can fit several lightweight outfits. I typically use the bottom section for my shoes in order to keep my unworn clothes clean. Or, if I’m also using a carry-on, I’ll use this pocket to store my toiletries and makeup bag. There are two interior side pockets — one zipper pocket I use for socks and intimates, and the other padded slip pocket for my laptop (sometimes even two laptops).

I’d be lying if I said the aesthetic alone wasn’t enough to convince me to buy The Weekender. And now that it’s also available in pink, it’s taking all my willpower to resist buying a second one. (Maybe I do need another one, right?)

This is easily one of the most durable duffle bags I’ve ever used. From my car to the airport to staycations in my home city, the Beis Weekender remains intact. I genuinely can’t believe the handles haven’t ripped off, considering the times I straddled the bag and squeezed it with my legs just to zip it closed. The shoulder strap also comes in handy when I’m walking with my hands full, and the pockets help my scatterbrain stay organized while traveling.

One of the best parts of this bag is also what causes one of its downsides. Since it’s spacious and can fit a fair amount of belongings, it can get pretty heavy, especially if you’re carrying it through long security lines. If you opt for the beige bag like I did, then you’re at greater risk of stains and noticeable dirt marks. The brand recommends spot cleaning — I typically do this with a rag and warm water. Of course, the cost is also a hindrance, but from my personal experience, it’s an investment piece that’s worth the hefty price tag.

Is Beis luggage good?

The bottom line? Yes. Oftentimes, it’s hard to know if something is actually as high-quality as everyone says it is, or if it’s just another popularized trend. But The Beis Weekender is no fleeting fad. After two years of regular use with no damage, I can stand behind the sentiment that it is, in fact, worth the hype — and the price!
