Manila, October 20, 2022—From October 18 to 20, U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay Carlson visited the provinces of Eastern Samar and Leyte to commemorate the shared sacrifices of the United States and the Philippines in World War II and to reinforce the United States’ commitment to the alliance.

Ambassador Carlson joins President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Leyte Governor Carlos Jericho Petilla, and Armed Forces of the Philippines Visayas Command Chief Lt. Gen. Robert Dauz in commemorating the 78th anniversary of the Leyte Gulf Landing on October 20 in Palo, Leyte.
