2022 figures show outstanding growth for caravan manufacturing

The Caravan Industry Association of Australia has released the sector’s 2022 manufacturing and import numbers, with 28,301 units produced locally last year.

Locally produced units were up by 17.1 per cent from the previous year, a number not seen since post-Cyclone Tracy in the 1970s.

When combined with imported product numbers of 20,498, up by 8.36 per cent from the previous year, this is the highest rate ever of new caravans entering the Australian market.

These rates are directly attributed to the strong domestic demand for caravanning.

Exports also recorded a record 9,568 units, an increase of a massive 229.93

Air Canada customer spends 6 months after flight finding lost baggage

Almost six months have passed and Toronto woman Shamita Kumar is still looking for a piece of luggage her mom was supposed to have with her in Sri Lanka.

“My aunt was sick, so we were really there to take care of her,” Kumar told CTV News Toronto in an interview.

They packed a variety of things in the suitcase, like bras for a mastectomy and other items to help Kumar’s aunt through treatment. But, Kumar said the bag never even left Canada.

“It moved to Montreal and then it came back to Toronto,” she said.

St. Petersburg committee advances $50,000 for residents’ abortion travel costs

ST. PETERSBURG — A City Council committee advanced a $50,000 funding request to pay for travel- and transportation-related expenses for pregnant St. Petersburg residents seeking abortions locally and out of state.

All three of the City Council’s Health, Energy, Resilience and Sustainability committee members present Thursday voted in favor of dipping into the city’s general fund to support the Tampa Bay Abortion Fund. They also voted to advance a resolution affirming the right to privacy in women’s health care decisions.
